Sample plans

Sample Week 1 practice plans

These are full sample Week 1 plans, the kind of plan a ChopsForge subscriber gets by email in their first week. Each one is built from an example intake for a beginner or returning player, with timed blocks for every day, target tempos, one weekly benchmark and the end-of-week check-in questions.

They're free to follow as written. A real plan is built from your own instrument, level, goals and minutes per day, and the next week is adjusted from your check-in.

Drums · Week 1

For a beginner or returning drummer. 15 minutes a day, 5 days.

Grip, single strokes and your first rock beat, all locked to a click.

Guitar · Week 1

For a beginner or returning guitarist. 20 minutes a day, 5 days.

Clean chord changes, a steady strum with the metronome, and one song section you can play through.

Bass · Week 1

How to read a plan

  • Blocks are timed. Set a timer and move on when it goes off, even mid-exercise.
  • Tempo is in BPM on a metronome. It's a target, not a test: drop it if you can't play cleanly.
  • The benchmark is the one number to measure at the end of the week.
  • The check-in is how the next week gets adjusted.
